Godstone dev log 17: Inside version 0.4


Hello you guys!


Version 0.4 is under development, and I want to kick it off by showing you some of the stuff I have worked on!




| Improved collisions |

Collisions of all spells have been improved, and bugs were enemies and the player does not take damage when they should, should be fixed!






| Recreated Melee Combat! |

Some of the new stuff I have added is improved melee combat with enemies! The gif below shows a complete makeover of the bandit enemy (the guy with the sword that throws knives), a much needed makeover of his design that i made about 3 years ago. Damn. This way of melee attacking will more or less be added to all enemies with a melee attack and will work slightly different for each.







| New skills! |

Another thing I have been working on are new skills when you level up! I have added these 5 new skills in order of the image below:


Bloodshield

Sacrifice 3 max endurance, and in return gain 10% more resistances. This is twice as much as the normal resistance skill.

This works very well with items that only trigger when having 10 or less endurance. You both control how much max endurance you have, but also make those few endurance points you have last for as long as possible, making those items trigger more.






Masochism

Whenever you take damage, you gain 3 energy. This effect will stack with how many times you select this skill, finally resulting in you regaining all your energy.

This works very well for tanky builds were you focus a lot on increasing your resistances without being able to increase your energy regeneration. So all in all, an alternative way of gaining energy so combat does not become dull. I am still not sure about this one, so your thoughts on it are more than welcome.






Greed / Materialism

Sacrifice 5% resistances and in return, containers for loot spawn more often and aspecially chests spawn more.

This is a skill that helps players with a tough start with barely any loot find more loot. If this is selected enough, all containers that spawn will be chests giving only relics and crowns. This is very powerful and the decrease in resistance is to balance it out. Of course, if playtesting proves otherwise, this will be altered. ^^






Sacrifice

You sacrifice 3 endurance, and in return gain 10% more damage. This is twice the amount of the normal damage skill.

It works very well when you have items on you that only trigger when you have 10 or less endurance, allowing you to control your own max endurance while also getting more damage from it.






Control

You both increase the range of all your abilities (and item abilities) and all missile abilities bounce on walls +1 times. This stacks.

Personally a favorite of mine that alters how you can use spells, and is aspecially effective with Spark and Snowflake spells that penetrate enemies, making them deal damage multiple times.
