Godstone dev log 15: Update Progress
Hey peeps!
It has been amazing watching so many people play Godstone, I am truly astounded! Some of the best stuff has by far been the awesome videos you guys have made of it, I have spend many hours watching them and noted down all the feedback you have given! It it very appreciated.
For this devlog, i want to let you in on the progress on version 0.3 - were many of the changes / polish is based on your feedback!
| Alakai |
I have been working a lot on Alakai, the new miniboss, and can say his early prototype is finished! He still needs plenty of animation and sound effects, so there is still quite a way to go. He is going to be a pretty intense boss, but he is of course beatable - and voluntary.

The new Black Library soundtrack has been added to the game! It will start the moment the player enters the area, and resume to the Ruins soundtrack once they leave it again.

| Dialog Delayed |
Due to the ever approaching deadline, the NPC Dialog will be delayed to the next update. Sad face.
| Major Gameplay Changes |
With the new update I will also launch some bigger gameplay changes based on player feedback:
Health System and Combat
One of the biggest changes are to the endurance (health) system, and from the next update forward, players have max health! Before, players could get infinite health, which was cool, but resulted in boring and much less intense combat because the player could just tank through it all once they got the hang of it.
This means Guy starts with 15 max health while all others start with 10. When you level up, you gain 5 more max health. This will also make levelling up more valuable - and thus fighting enemies more motivating.
To balance out this pretty big nerf, all enemies now have less health. This will make combat faster and more intense in general.
Also, when you level up you regain all of your health up to your curent max health, and not just 10 health as before.
Due to these changes, some boss abilities will deal less damage.
Spells
Another change are to spell drops. I have experienced players being overwhelmed with the amount of spells that drop in the game, and also players becoming very powerful because the right spells dropped early on. To avoid this, the most powerful spells now drop after level 12, aka the new Black Library area. The following spells that only drop after the Black Library are the following:
- Fire Orb
- Dark Orb
- Frost Orb
- Frost Nova
- Explode
- Burning Hands
- Phase Shift
- Frost Shell
